Juicing day 2, August 23, 2011

Today was a VERY busy day. I was up at 5am, made a fruit juice for breakfast - very similar to yesterday but added kiwi and a cucumber. The cucumber was not a hit. Then I had to take C across town to school with both littles. Then take both boys to a doc's appt for K, then to an eye appoitnment for me. DON'T ever take your little children to an eye appointment - EVER! Thankfully the staff was nice and rescued all of us and took D and K out front to play and be held. I then needed to go to Target, afterwards we hit Chick-fil-a for lunch. So no juice for lunch today. I did get a grilled chicken sandwich instead of the fried but I still at the french fries and I got a lemonade instead of tea - there's no way I was going to face that headache again. After lunch we headed back across town to pick up C. Then we all headed home for a nap.

That evening was C's school open house/meet the teacher night so dinner was Chipotle. It was yummy but way too much.

Juicing day 1, Monday August 22, 2011

Plan for today Juice breakfast and Lunch - regular dinner.

Breakfast - fruit juice
1/4 pineapple
two oranges
green apple
strawberries
frozen fruit mix (this did not work)
plum
necterine
grapefruit
two carrotts
pear
Coconut water

YUMMY!

I shared this with C. K drank some too. D said it was too yucky and wouldn't drink it.

I went for a run - very short run - mostly walking before lunch. I was trying out the new Vibrams and I had Keegan in the stroller and it's hard to run pushing a stroller. It completely changes your stride. and it was HOT H O T. I made the Fruity Greens juice for lunch but didn't drink much of it - I fell asleep.

I ate Chicken Totilla soup for dinner and shortly after dinner I got hit with the massive caffeine headache. It was awful.

weight this am: 221.5 lbs down 1.5 lbs

More granola that I ever thought I'd be.

I've never considered myself granola-y or what I call a "one with the earth" kind of girl. My idea of roughing it is staing at a Best Western instead of the Westin. But as I get older I'm adopting a few more things in my life that get me closer to the nature side of things. I've started running and I plan to run a long as I'm physically able - which I hope to be a very long time. In searching to see if some of my running pains are acutally being caused by my shoes I've purchased some Vibram five finger shoes (the green ones). I've been wearing them on errands etc to get my feet/leggs used to them but I just may become a barefoot runner.

I'm still nursing my 15 month old son - never thought I'd go that long. People ask me when we'll stop and I answer I don't know....

This past weekend I watched the documentary Fat Sick and Nearly Dead. If you haven't watched it you should! That has inspired me to Juice! So this weekend we also purchased a Breville Juice Fountain Plus juicer. Yesterday I bought a bunch of fruits and vegetables.

My plan for now is to drink juice for breakfast and lunch and then eat the dinners I already had planned. Yes, those dinners will contain some "bad" foods, but this will allow me time to detox off of Caffeine and then I'll cut out the other foods - fats, sugar, flower etc. Starting in September.

We made a juice last night and it was good - a bit earthy at first for me, so i added some grapes and an orange to mine to tone it down a little. But it was good.

Where I started

I'm 38 I've had two babies in the last four years. I have three sons, 17, 3 1/2 and 15 months, and a husband. I would like to loose 80lbs. My starting weight was 223. I haven't exercised in the last five years. About three weeks ago I started running (jogging/walking) three times a week. I started with the C25K program and then joined a running class/group through a local running store. The group meets twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays and then I run one other time on my own.

Running has been slow.... S L O W. I am in the beginners group (of course) but I am also the slowest in the group. I've had some soreness/pain to deal with in my calfs and left knee. Even though I'm super slow i'm still seeing improvment and that's all that matters.
